Pretzel Fingers

So I've been a little remiss lately...but I have posted a few things on my other more public-friendly blog (stop by when you get a chance...that's where my recipes and tips, etc...are!!!) Let's catch up together, shall we?
Thankfully we love Halloween around our house so we had some fun decorations to use
Today, J entered his first 4H Food Show contest and we were so proud! In 4H there are three age group divisions: Junior, Intermediate and Senior. You become a senior around age 14 so this year J is an Intermediate since his birthday is in the middle of the 4H year. In the food show, along with the 3 age groups, each kid also enters in one of the 5 food groups: Grains, Fruits, Veggies, Dairy and Proteins.

Pumpkin Guts Butter
J has been wanting to come up with a pretzel since the only place here closed last year (we really loved that place).  So, as the theme for the Food Show this year was Healthy Holidays, we decided on honey wheat pretzel with a Halloween twist...Pumpkin Guts Butter.  It was YUMMY!  And you can find the recipe on Purple Frog HERE :-)

Our friend Becca beat J (they were both entered in the Intermediate Grains division) so he will be the alternate for the District food show in the spring, but J did receive 1st place in place setting decorations!  He was very proud and we learned a lot for next year.

It is tough when friends are competing against each other. She wanted to win but she didn't want to beat J. Next year they should talk before deciding on a dish since they will both be seniors.
