It Bears Repeating!!!!

Most of you have probably read via Facebook or e-mails...but it does bear repeating...Dad is now Cancer FREE!!
Thursday at 2:30pm, his scan results were in and the doctor said his throat looks like nothing ever happened to it! They said if it comes back, it will usually do so in about 2 years, if not, it's usually gone for good. If it comes back and they treat again, it will not return. He will undergo a scan every 6 months for awhile and is now just waiting to get that catheter taken away!

I don't like saying simply that "God is Good!" b/c I don't want you to think it's only in good times I think God is good...He is good no matter what...we may not be...but HE IS. He was good when Dad was diagnosed, He was good while Dad was in the hospital and He is good now that Dad is cancer-free...He is good when we have a paycheck to paycheck month...He is good when my son has tears in his eyes as he tells me again how he wishes he didn't have cerebral palsy...He is good when I feel crummy or when I feel wonderful...b/c He is constant, faithful and working for our good regardless. That is the only thing we can cling to in rought times...much like Daniel did. I want to be more like Daniel, letting people know how good God is all the time, not just when it works out for me. Why is that hard to do? B/c I'm human, I guess...and I'm a selfish human at that. But thankfully, He knows me and He loves me and He forgives me!! (Can you tell it's Sunday and I heard some good preachin' today?!)
As my laptop is still at the doctor, I am w/out photoshop to catch everyone up on Project 365. But I want to share some great pics from the last couple of weeks to let you know what we've been doing around here!
This is Gracie and Turbo...our friend Mark's dogs that are staying with us (bringing our total dog count to 5 and cat count to 5...although one of them hasn't been seen since he dropped her off)

2 weeks ago, we had a final "den" meeting with our Bear scouts...more of a cookout/playground meeting. They enjoyed themselves, we are so proud of them. They have really grown over the last 3 years and I can't believe they will be Webelos this fall! J was actually a little sad as he received his Webelo book, he realized he was getting older and wanted to stay a Bear longer :(

May is all about the field trips! One was cancelled b/c of swine flu restrictions, but the Art Museum was on! We have a great little art museum here in town and after viewing a few of the exhibits, the kids were able to create their own watercolor art. Bet you can't guess what J chose to create...I'll give you a hint...has to do w/comics, was bit by a radioactive insect....hmmmm....

Is this not a GREAT Mother's Day card? Handmade by my wonderful hubby and signed by my incredible son...the first pic (taken on "Boot Hill back in 2001 or 2...) says "Sure as my shootin, you're the best" , the second of little J says "Few more years and I will be doing this for real?" YIKES!! It's hanging on our fridge :)

Mom & Dad drove in for Mother's Day, which was awesome! They met us at church, then we headed to Tokoyo's for lunch...it was SO good :)

After a little begging, T sat w/J to help him finish out a book for school. He loves the movie, but the book was not as "entertaining" as his usual choices (Captain Underpants, etc...)...he just "couldn't finish it on his own"...so pitiful :) Made for very sweet pics, however!

FIELD DAY!! Friday was field day...usually not my favorite school activity, however, my friends were all so right...once you get to 3rd grade, it's so much more fun. Since the kids aren't in every activity, they are in 2 to 4, J & I didn't have to walk/run/push the wheelchair all day, which made it more fun for both of us, ha! He did get very hot and came in to spend time in the concession stand w/me for a bit, but he had a great time with his friends.

J's second activity was the Sponge Head relay and you know he loved this one...any chance to be doused with water! His first activity was potato relay and his class won 1st place! They even gave me a ribbon, ha!!

So, all in all, we are still having a busy time. My first facilitating job last week was wonderful, we had 24 middle school kids and they loved it...I received my official card in the mail that I had passed the testing, woo hoo!!!

We will be "attempting" a zoo field trip this Tuesday (but as many of you know...my boy detests the zoo here b/c of the free roaming peacocks so who knows how far into it we'll get), a Talent Show on Friday (at which J will be the videographer), a visit from Grandma and cousin KK (and my computer will be coming home!!), a fun Memorial weekend up ahead, a trip to Houston on the 28th for pre-op (and we'll be taking the chance to see the new Night at the Museum on IMAX AT the Houston Museum of Natural Science :) )...then school is OUT!!! And I vow to work on my blogging, I'm going to try and get on here atleast once a week, then maybe up it to 2 times, we'll see...
