A "Heck Yea!" kind of day!

What a day Monday was...and Tuesday is following :) (and please don't get me wrong, I know a lot of us still have awful things going on in our lives today but I am choosing to focus on the Heck Yea's!)

I finished week's 10 & 11 for project 365 (heck yea!), J & I have slept in for the first 2 days of spring break (heck yea!), Aunt L has made it through her DNC safely this morning and is hopefully making her way back home to rest (heck yea!), Aunt C is recovering slowly but surely and safely at home from her back surgery last week (heck yea!), Dad is handling the last chemo famously so far - temp is good - not much nausea - and he sounds great on the phone, his voice is much more normal-sounding (heck yea!), we had a wonderful dinner last night w/friends (heck yea!) and to top it all off...my boy...wait for it, b/c it's so exciting!!!......................................

My boy got COMMENDED on his first TAKS reading test! HECK YEA!! That means he missed no more than 3 questions (93 or above)!!!!! We are so excited for him, he (and yes, me too) has been so stressed about this b/c sadly, in TX right now, you have to pass this one test to move on to 4th grade. They get a couple of chances, but the kids still get so stressed and at the young ages of 9 & 10 it's just too much. J, obviously, has been stressed b/c it just takes his hands a bit longer to circle his responses and was worried he would take too long (which of course, he didn't). (I've also seen some sample passages and after several years of writing experience for standardized tests...the TAKS seems to lack on proper item-formulation, but that's just my opinion). All that being said, we all feel a bit more relaxed about TAKS to come, not expecting perfection but not quite as scared as we were before this first one.

Now...onto Project 365 week 10: (and also a "disclaimer"...some of these pages might not be "beautiful" b/c I am using them as play-time w/my photoshop tools, ha!)

Day 1
I spent Monday, Tuesday, etc...working on collages from the hunt to give to everyone who helped us. T had the idea from a safari club show he attended Dallas. He’s actually become interested in PSE through this work !

Day 2

My Birthday!!!! My boys took me to Cheddar’s for an awesome birthday dinner...topped off with this monster of a dessert. What you don’t see here is the chocolate cake J ordered! It was HUGE.

Day 3
My wonderful friend Mville gave me this very thoughtful and beautiful gift for my birthday. It brought tears to my eyes. She included the bottle of Pink Truck too... She knows me well :)

Day 4
“It’s Peeking”...written by Batgirl while she was visiting 2 weeks ago. It referred to...well, not sure I need to write it here...but J just “got” it this afternoon and he thought it was hilarious. I keep forgetting to erase it.

Day 5
Our first visit to Longview in several weeks! Grandma of course had a treat for J and he was thrilled...a Spectacular Spiderman Venom toy. He was almost as happy with that as he was to see Grandaddy!

Day 6
Dad asked me to plant some of his standing cypress “baby” plants while in town. T helped the neighbor with a broken branch while mom cleaned out the back room of their house. It was a productive day!

Day 7
Another tooth...can you believe that? 3 in 4 weeks! We’re beginning to wonder if J has some kind of deal w/the tooth fairy going on.

Day 1 - Mom & Dad sent this beautiful hydrangea home with us. It’s a “common people” plant to dad because it’s not butterfly worthy! It was white before sun hit it, cool...

Day 2 - Mosquito catchers, so they are good bugs, but highly annoying & we have had a PLETHORA of them over the last week. They die quickly all over my floor!

Day 3 - God & Me. T & J have been going once a month for 5 months to this extra Cub Scout group with others in our den. This was the last meeting!

Day 4 - Life Is Good...this is T’s motto, regardless of our situation. His friend Larry gave him this shirt and I just love it on him!

Day 5 - 9 weeks awards day and my boy got the Citizenship award for his class!! I am so proud of how he’s done in 3rd grade, he’s an incredible kid!

Day 6 - This is the result of two very hungry 3rd grade boys at Cici’s (Jdude & J)! Only 4 of these plates were mine & T’s! But they loved every bite :)

Day 7 - Smores...who doesn’t love ‘em? With a week of cold wet weather, we were able to get the fireplace going again...so of course, we had to have smores!

J got Commended on TAKS? You totally ROCK, Dude!

IMHO as a former English teacher, if he aced that one, and keeps up a similar work ethic throughout his school career, it's basically a sure thing that he'll do well on every reading test from here on out. Woohoo! Congrats!

We have to take joy in the joyful things, even when things are bad. The little things are given by God to lift our spirits.

I am so glad to hear the good news!
