Butterfly Gardens

Well, I am pretty sure I have said this before, but it must be repeated...I think I am officially becoming my father (sorry mom!). I have finally planted all of my native/butterfly plants and trees and it now takes me an hour to water them! I catch myself telling T "well, that one is a nectar plant". yea. I really do. I'm not usually correct, but I try! I don't have pictures yet, but I will soon post some of my pretty pretty gardens and plants :)

In March, J & I took Grandad and Grandma to the Butterfly exhibit...it was the Christmas present we had given Grandad, just took us all awhile to find a weekend free. We have been members at the Houston Museum of Natural Science for almost a year (have visited for over 4 years now) and had never checked out the butterfly exhibit. It was amazing. Even J, who tends to freak out ALOT when things fly around him...enjoyed it :) (here's a funny for ya...in the picture above, see all the fruit? Well, Dad couldn't wait to get home and make up some of these fruit stands to put in his yard. Mom? NOT so excited about the idea!)

And even better for him was the entomology exhibit you also gain entrance to...lots of gross bugs and spiders (ok, gross is MY word), but very educational. I did think the cocoons were amazing, of all shapes and colors and many of them had butterflies hatching at the time we saw them. The detail on the cocoons was beautiful, hard to catch in a picture.

We also went through the current special exhibit Magic! The Science of Wonder. They had props and clothing of Harry Houdini, an actual magic show, videos showing magic tricks, etc... it was way cool (couldn't take pics inside, though) If you live anywhere near HMNS, we all encourage you to go, J & I usually go for a couple of hours everytime we are in Houston for doctors, etc... There is a beautiful botanical garden across the street from the hospital you can park near and walk through. And of course the zoo is also across the street :)

We all had to have our fortunes read by the great Zoltar, of course!

So when are you going to post pictures? Anytime soon?

Hint hint.

Or which plants are your favorites? or pictures of your favorites?

We found a cocoon the other day that was HUGE, I could have slid my thumb in it but EWWWW.
