Dad's Surgery

Just a quick post to ask for prayer. Dad will be having surgery on his prostate this Thursday morning (all in line w/getting that catheter out). He will definitely be staying overnight because they want to keep any future blood clots at bay, he might end up staying 2 nights just in case. Either way, I get to stay with him while mom heads out of town for her Presbytery job, which I'm happy about :) (not that mom is out of town, but that I get to stay w/him). She is very nervous, however, because she has to leave after the surgery, so please pray for her as well as I'm not quite the nurse she is now!

And on a side note, I want to encourage all of you to read Charlie & the Chocolate Factory out loud with your kids, grandkids, etc...I KNOW, you've read it, they've probably read it, you've seen the movie(s)...ME TOO. I've read it atleast 4 times, seen the movie(s) more times than I can count, but I promise you, it's worth another read (course you gotta do the voices!). And you old school Willy Wonka fans (which I am one, don't get me wrong, I love them both!) will see that Johnny Depp's portrayal of Willy Wonka was actually more on par w/the book. J begged for me to keep reading every night until it was over and he craved Wonka Bars the whole time, ha! We had to pick up a couple at the candy store in the mall! I've promised him I'll read Charlie & the Great Glass Elevator after he finishes his own book first, we'll take turns :) I'll let you know how that one turns out...I read it eons ago, can't really remember much about it but it will be fun because we'll be reading together! (And it doesn't hurt that these are both 5 points on the AR reading list!)
I hope you all have a great Monday!

It seems like prostate issues are almost a rite of passage with men of a certain age. Any surgery is nerve wracking though (especially for the people not getting the drugs). I will be praying.

Have you ever read The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster? While it isn't really dark, it is a great book and very fantasy-ish. Junior is enjoying it although I don't think he gets it as much as Daisy. She is loving it.
