Bibleman Powersource: Combating the Commandant of Confusion (Review)

In this adventure of Bibleman, the Commandant of Confusion is out to steal the armor of God with his sidekick Chaos. They interrupt a Bible Adventure Training where Bibleman and his team are teaching a group of kids that the Word of God is our most powerful weapon against the enemy.

I must admit, I have always been a bit leary of the Bibleman shows....they just seemed a bit on the silly side. However, I had my 11 year old watch this with me and he truly enjoyed it. He's very into good and evil, heroes vs. villains so this was right up his alley! This particular video is a taping of a live performance, so I am not able to compare it to a normal Bibleman video as I haven't seen any others. I will say that for an adult, it was filmed more like a sci-fi film of the 70's but for a kid, that was perfect! He thought it was funny and he loved the action. I loved the fact that almost everything that came out of Bibleman's mouth was scripture. He quotes scripture as he talks to the audience and as he battles Chaos and Confusion. But it's not overwhelming, it flows very well into the action going on at the time.

I am impressed with the message being given to kids through this DVD. It might be a bit long for younger kids, I found myself ready for it be done after about 30 minutes, but it did peak my son's interest in other Bible-focused shows that were previewed. He even asked some really great biblical questions during and after the show.

There are two bonus sections along with trailers: a song with actions and a training challenge where Bibleman and his team show a few fighting manuevers they use on villains.

Ah!
I see I can post a comment as long as I do it as "Anonymous."
Once upon a time I knew how to post comments on your blog as me (Tara). But alas, the knowledge is gone.

LOVE your blog, btw.

So now that I know I can post:
Yea for the Bibleman review!

My kids (they straddle J's age, 10 and 12) have only seen these shows once or twice, but we've somehow taught them to disregard what their peers think of as age appropriate. They still love Veggie Tales, etc.
I guess it's because I tell them that I'm almost 40, and I LOVE Veggie Tales.
Just tell your kids: these shows are geared to be funny to 5 year olds, AND their 30-40 year old parents.
So if you (age 12) can watch it and laugh, then that means you're understanding humor intended for grown-ups.
It works.
