I know I've mentioned this before, but I truly love our church, not the building (which is nice) but the people, the Word that is spoken, the pastors who allow God to use them for truth and just take us through scripture, not lectures or sermons. For pastors who encourage us daily to search the truth for ourselves.
This was a heavy message for Father's Day but it was incredible to hear. If you have 30 minutes today, please skip to about 38:30 in the video (June 20th video) and watch and listen to the end of Mark's message. Some of you will most likely be offended in some way and that's ok, sometimes we need to be offended to search the truth out for ourselves. We live in a time in which a lot of us hear things about Tribulation being close, people speaking prophecy, telling us things that aren't in scripture but they say they glean from scripture. Basically telling us their interpretation of what they think is happening and will happen (and this all was also happening back in 2 Thessalonians...nothing new under the sun). But the thing is, none of us truly know.
What we can know is what's in the 66 books of the Bible. Because that book is God-breathed, it has everything He wants us to know. He didn't write between the lines He just wrote the lines you read. Only the Bible. That's where the truth lies. We have to know it for ourselves so we can pass it to our children. It's not the truth to just be clean livin'...you can be clean all your life and still go to Hell. The truth is simply forgiveness, reading the Bible and living for God, not for others, even if you mess up daily, that's it.
Be aware of false teachers and pastors, friends, family, etc...who say they know when Jesus is returning. We all know He's returning b/c the Bible tells us, and yes I agree there are signs out there now that seem to be alluding to it getting closer. But closer in God's world could be hundreds of years in ours, or it could be 2. No one on earth knows. NO ONE. Not even the most famous evangelical preacher on TV. Read the Word for yourself so you know the truth. Not between the lines...read the actual lines in there. Parents, that's the best thing we can pass on to our kids. The truth.
To end the message, skip back to about 33:00 to see my beautiful friends do their Ministry in Motion (sign language/dance) to Steven Curtis Chapman's Cinderella for their Dads. It was so sweet :)
