Expressions Assignment #2

Ah...February is the month of love! With Valentines Day a mere 12 days away, what a better time to start sending Expressions of Love, that's our theme for February!

Before I pass out your assignments...how did last week go? If you are just joining us at Lifting My Eyes,
READ HERE to see what we're doing for the year 2010! We're bringing back the art of writing and using stamps :) Yes, occasionally I might allow an e-mail and definitely you can type if your handwriting is not so great (or if you have a disability that keeps you from writing much). But the point is to communicate with others through the art of writing.

Last week you were to send a simple Thank You note to someone, anyone, for something they've given you, done for you or just for being in your life. I sent a note to my aunt in Minnesota. All of my aunts and uncles are FABULOUS. You would all be completely envious of me if you knew my aunts and uncles. My Dad's brothers and sisters are the most supportive and loving people I have ever known (when Dad was sick last year, you should have seen them rally behind our family!) and I am so blessed to be a part of their lives. They each treat T, J and I as their own children, not just nieces and nephews. My mom's sister, my aunt Jo, who passed away around 15 years ago from cancer, was like my second mom. I wish my son had received the chance to know her. Thankfully T did since we dated a bit in high school and college. She always gave us the wierdest gifts (in clothing form, usually) at Christmas but what fun memories that left us :)

Anyway...I'm a bit long-winded today again!...my aunt in Minnesota used to bring her 2 kids down to spend the summers with all of us in Texas. All of us first cousins were close growing up because of the efforts our parents made to keep us in touch (a great reminder to me for J!). And driving from MN twice every year was not the easiest thing. She still does it, but of course her kids are older like me with their own families, but she drives down to hang out for awhile in Texas. And she never fails to bring something for J and/or T and myself. Usually it's a great book for J and a Starbucks (or bookstore) gift card for me (she knows just how to butter...or coffee..us up!) This Christmas was no different, so my first thank you note of the year went to this aunt. Have no fear, other aunts and uncles, yours are on my "Expressions" list this year too :)

NOW...Assignment #2...Send a card to a special man in your life. Be it your hubby, son, father, uncle, boyfriend, fiance', brother, etc.. etc... etc... Let them know how much you love them and why. It doesn't have to be long, just personal. I'm not asking for a long letter, just go pick up a card (which you can now find for $1 at major superstores) that speaks from your heart, then add a few of your own words to it. Then MAIL IT. Even if they live in your home, MAIL IT. Who doesn't love to get mail? Especially a card? For no reason? It's a great thing.

Let me know how you did last week and what you plan on doing this week in the comments! And be on the lookout next Tuesday for your 3rd Assignment!

so I was going to ask if I could count the very long, very hand-written, very time-consuming, very awesome bday gift/card I gave my dh last week for this week, but then you said "mail it" -- ugh. So, okay. I'll try a new one.

Need to do that thank-you, too. Darn, I'm behind! I'll get on it and hopefully mail both by the end of the week. You do realize this international mail bit is going to cost me more than the rest of you???

(kidding. I mean, it will, but I don't care)
